Job Summary:
The Security Field Engineer III is responsible for:
- Leading and participating in complex projects
- Maintaining certifications and learning new technologies as requested
- Effectively communicating with internal and external teams
- Providing advanced technical support and mentoring Engineers
- Providing technical assistance for project and ticket escalations

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes:
Solution Implementation & Client Support: 100% of the Job
- Implements and supports network security solutions, including Cisco Identity Service Engine, Cisco Secure Access, Cisco Secure Firewalls, Meraki firewalls, Duo multi-factor authentication and single sign-on, Cisco Umbrella, Cisco Secure Endpoint, Cisco Secure Email, Cisco Secure Network Analytics, and Cisco Secure Workload
- Reviews and follows project Statements of Work to gain a clear understanding of customer expectations
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Project Managers and co-workers
- Maintains and pursues professional and security specialization certifications
- Records detailed project and service ticket progress and status
- Achieves and maintains a minimum customer satisfaction rating average as set by management
- Remains current with relevant security technology trends
- Performs onsite hardware installations as needed
- Develops positive client relationships through ongoing education of systems and timely resolution of questions, issues, and/or complaints
- Participates in internal and customer-facing meetings

Position Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or related field preferred; will consider an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering and advanced network security design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Certification(s): Cisco Certified Network Professional – Security (CCNP Security) required; advanced security certifications (e.g., CCIE Security, CISSP, or equivalent) preferred.
Functional Skills:

- Demonstrated ability to design and implement scalable, secure network architectures
- Strong risk assessment and mitigation capabilities

Technology Aptitude/Skills:
- Advanced expertise in TCP/IP networking fundamentals including IP subnetting, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and static and dynamic routing
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure and related platforms (Virtualization, Windows Server/AD)
- Extensive experience designing and implementing Cisco Security Solutions (ISE, Secure Access, Duo, XDR)
- Deep understanding of network security architecture, threat mitigation, Zero Trust and layered defense strategies
- Experience with other advanced security platforms (e.g., Microsoft, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or similar enterprise solutions)
- Strong understanding of endpoint security integration within enterprise network environments
- Foundational understanding of cloud security architecture and tooling
- Foundational understanding of security operations and incident response
- Ability to evaluate emerging security technologies and recommend architectural improvements
Language Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to present complex security architectures and risk considerations to executive, technical, and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong presentation and documentation skills
- Ability to develop technical standards, implementation guides, and security documentation

Equipment Used:
This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technology, including computers, phones, mobile devices, photocopiers, filing systems/cabinets, and related office tools.
