Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for ensuring reliability, performance, and availability of the database platform to support business strategy, vision, and goals. Responsible for database service and support, and physical database design and implementation. Handle incoming service requests, implement changes on production/non-production environments, resolve incidents and driving movement of multiple team queues including representing the team in high severity bridge. Validate and resolve database related events and alerts, implement database monitoring configurations as required and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed. The candidate will also participate in fulfilling documentation requirements, proactive incident management, provide knowledge transfer and carry out periodic reporting requirements required by the team, facilitate weekly team meetings. Reporting cover periodic capacity planning including recommendations based on interpretation from various tools and alerts.
Requirements:
• Strong knowledge on Linux/Unix administration
• Strong knowledge on Database architecture
• Strong hands-on experience on Oracle (Single instance and RAC cluster) and/or Postgres, and MySQL databases
• Strong hands-on experience on Dataguard and other high availability and replication setup
• Strong knowledge on Cloud technologies (GCP, Azure, AWS)
• Strong understanding of database backup and recovery
• Strong understanding of performance tuning concepts
• Demonstrated scripting skills and automation (shell, python)
• Strong understanding of information systems and data structures
• Strong knowledge of monitoring tools (OEM, Datadog, Cloud native monitoring)
• Strong knowledge in database security, access provisioning, audit and database entity-relationship
• Ability to perform database installations, configurations, upgrades, patching and migrations based on established procedures. Update documentation whenever necessary
• Good understanding and practice of ITIL standards, processes, and concepts
• Strong ability to analyze problems and prioritize, escalate as needed
• Ability to work on a fast phase environment, multi-task and prioritize multiple initiatives
• Solid documentation skills
