Traveling Electricians and Low-Voltage Technicians, National Talent Network

About the opportunity

Mercury Z is building a national network of skilled electrical professionals for current and upcoming data center and critical infrastructure projects across the U.S. We're looking for apprentices through superintendents, plus experienced low-voltage technicians. Joining means you build one verified profile that we match to travel assignments based on your license, skills, location, schedule, and availability, so you hear about the right project early instead of searching job by job.

Your license is valuable everywhere. Stop working for one contractor, and work across projects nationwide at traveling rates.

What you'll do

  • Install, bend, and route conduit, and pull and terminate conductors
  • Install panels, switchgear, transformers, cable tray, and related equipment
  • For low-voltage work, install pathways, racks, and cabinets, and pull, dress, label, terminate, and test copper and fiber, including OTDR, end-to-end, and visual fault locator (red light) testing on fiber
  • Read prints, one-line diagrams, and labeling schedules
  • Test, troubleshoot, and document work accurately, including as-builts and test results
  • Follow QA/QC, lockout/tagout, and site safety procedures

What every role requires

  • Documented commercial, industrial, or low-voltage experience
  • Ability to read electrical or low-voltage drawings
  • A safe work history and strong safety practices
  • Willingness to travel for multi-month assignments and work the stated shift or rotation
  • Your own standard hand tools and reliable communication
  • OSHA 10, the baseline safety certification for every role
  • NFPA 70E / arc flash, which is required at nearly all data center sites
  • Lockout/tagout and First Aid/CPR
  • Data center or mission-critical experience is a strong plus

Field Electricians Roles

  • Apprentice Electrician: enrolled in a registered apprenticeship, with documented supervised hours
  • Journeyman Electrician: 4+ years of commercial or industrial experience and a state journeyman license
  • Commissioning Electrician: 3 to 5+ years on site in data centers, doing point-to-point checks, pre-energization inspections, and medium or high voltage work

Requirements

  • The license your role requires. Journeyman or master licenses are verified for the specific project state.
  • OSHA 10

Certifications we value

  • Medium or high voltage training, NCCER, and Fluke CCTT

Low-Voltage Technicians Roles

  • Low-Voltage / Data Center Technician: structured cabling, copper and fiber, testing, and MDF/IDF and data hall buildouts

Requirements

  • Any state or local license required for low-voltage scopes
  • OSHA 10

Certifications we value

  • BICSI (TECH, RCDD, or DCDC) and FOA (CFOT/CFOS)
  • BICSI-certified techs often have OTDR testing experience

Supervisors / Leads Roles

  • Foreman / Lead Journeyman: 6+ years of electrical experience, including 2+ years supervising crews of up to 10
  • General Foreman: 8+ years, including 4+ years supervising and coordinating multiple crews and foremen
  • Electrical Superintendent: 15+ years, including 7+ years supervising, with experience in scheduling, budgets, and large workforces
  • Project Manager

Requirements

  • The license your role requires. Journeyman or master licenses are verified for the specific project state.
  • OSHA 30, required for all supervisor and lead roles (Foreman / Lead Journeyman, General Foreman, Electrical Superintendent, and Project Manager)

What Mercury Z provides

  • Competitive traveling pay plus a target $125 per day per diem, subject to project terms and individual eligibility.
  • Early visibility into travel opportunities in markets you choose
  • Help researching license requirements in the destination state
  • Clear project details and regular updates, with no pressure to take an unsuitable assignment

One profile that keeps you visible for future projects, even if the first one isn't a match

How to join
